2013 CHEVROLET CRUZE Headlight LED upgrade - H13 H/L 8G Series LED kit Installation notes: Fog light LED upgrade was not a fun job at all. To gain access to the back of the fog lights, passenger side plastic cover under the bumper had to be removed. There is enough room to fit an led bulb in, so long as the led cooling fins are not too long. Driver side installation is another story. There is barely enough room to slide your hand between the back of the fog lamp and the windshield washer reservoir. We had to remove the front molding around the fog lamp as well as the wheel well lining and the plastic cover under the bumper to have unobstructed access to the back of the fog lamp. Installation time for everything was 1.5hrs. |

2010 DODGE RAM 2500 LED HEADLIGHT AND FOG LIGHT UPGRADE Headlights: H13 Hi/Lo GT Series CREE 90W 18000lm LED kit Installation notes: Fairly straight forward easy 1hr install. Fogs were not wired to the truck so a relay with remote control was used to provide power and remote functionality for turning fogs on/off. Cab mounted power switch comes with the relay but was not installed. Headlights worked in Auto/ON in the shop but as soon as the truck was outside and lights switched to DRLs in Auto mode the lights flashed 3x and then shut off. The problem was caused by the super canbus decoders. Once we eliminated them and plugged the H13 GT LEDs directly into the factory H13 headlight harness, the lights switched to high beam in DRL AUTO mode and stayed on. So, do not use any decoders in this install if you want the lights to stay on in AUTO mode and DRLs on in daytime. |

2019 Land Rover Discovery HST Sport LED Upgrade Low beam - H7 X9 10000lm 90W non-canbus LED kit
Low beam H7 is held in place with a proprietary power plug. You will need an H7 adapter to secure the H7 bulb base in the headlight. Without the adapter there is no way of securing the bulb in place. High beam is tricky. The bulb hole is offset and there is no room for any fanned led bulbs. There is another reason too - the drivers side has a radiator overflow canister right next to the bulb, leaving no room for anything other LED style than the flexible copper ribbon cable LED bulb. New 75mm diameter rubber dust caps had to be used as the factory ones had no room for the cooling copper wires. The space around the high beam bulb is tight, so it takes some time to fit everything in. Luckily the H7 G10 LED driver is very small so it fit inside the headlight. |

Low beams -> The driver side low beam is easy to get to. To get to the passenger side low beam you have to remove the airbox. H11 U9 LED bulbs fit directly under the dust caps which can then be re-installed without any modification. Anti-flicker decoders were not needed. Simple plug-n-play install.
Fogs -> it is easier to remove 3 hex screws in the wheel liner and reach in through there then it is to squeeze your hand between the frame and the fog light. The passenger side has a plastic insert under the wheel liner and around the fog lamp which if removed makes the install much easier. It is held in place by two 10mm bolts. Total install time 1 hr.

Super easy install. The driver's side requires nothing more than the dust cap removal and bulb replacement. To release the bulb you need to reach behind the right side of the bulb and move a level up (counter-clockwise). The bulb then slides directly out of the headlight - don't twist it or tilt it. The passenger side requires that the airbox is removed, and the bulb release is located behind the left side of the bulb - move the release down (counter-clockwise) to release the bulb and up (clockwise) to secure it in place after replacement. DIY time - 20-30 minutes.

The plastic grille has to be removed to get the headlights brackets and headlights out. There are 2 bolts on top of the grille and 1 on each side of the grille under the signal/marker lamps that have to come out. Once the grille is partially out, remove the chrome headlight bracket (4 screws holding it in), unplug the H4 headlight connector and remove the old headlight. DIY - 30-45min.

The large grille has to come out to get to the lights. There are 4 bolts on top of the grille to be removed and 5 tabs to be pushed down before the grille can be removed. The headlights are held in place with 3 bolts, 2 on the grille side, and 1 under the light closest to the fender. There is lots of room at the back of the headlights. Ballasts can be mounted on the frame on the radiator side. DIY - easy 30 min.

Super easy install. DIY 15-30 min. Remove 7mm bolt at the top of the headlight. Remove headlight. Remove halogen bulbs. Install LED bulbs. DRL is the low beam headlight bulb. DRLs flicker in AUTO mode. Adding anti-flicker canbus decoders resolves the flickering issue in DRL mode.

Installation notes: This is not a fun job at all. It takes about 1.5-1.75 hrs to install the low, high, and fogs, including LED alignment. The only access to the bulbs is through the wheel wells. Access space is very limited. Dust caps are very shallow and the space under them does not allow for any LED kits with fans to be installed without getting deeper rubber dust caps. That is why the G10 LED series is the best for this job. The G10 LED bulbs fit under the OE dust caps without any modification or additional parts. Anti-flicker canbus decoders are NOT needed with the G10.

Installation notes: The truck's computer is super picky. With halogens used in high beams, the computer would shut off both low and high beam when the high beam was activated. By using low wattage 9005 (H10) LEDs we were able to satisfy the computer and keep both high and low beams on at the same time.

Installation notes: The headlights on this vehicle are quite deep. You have to slide your whole hand inside the headlight opening to reach the bulb. To unlock the bulb, hold the retaining clip and rotate the bulb counterclockwise. When installing the LED with the new adapter, first lock in the headlight and then while pushing toward the front of the headlight with substantial force, rotate the bulb so the LED bulb's power wire is directly at 6 o'clock. This aligns the LEDs vertically. We've tried aligning the LEDs horizontally in the headlight, but the vertical alignment yielded a much better light pattern from this projector headlight.

Passenger side fog has very little room around it because of the metal that surrounds it.

Installation notes:
Low and high beams can easily be accessed through the engine compartment. H7 low beams need Q24 spacer adapters. The OEM H7 uses an H4 power plug which puts the connectors too far apart to directly plug the H7 LED connector into it. The connector has to be cut off and new female spade connectors need to be installed. This slows down the upgrade installation but there is no other way of doing it. The rubber boot is also for H4 bulbs and the inner circle opening has to be trimmed by 1 cm in length for the LED bulbs to lock in the headlight. High beam 9005's install just like any other bulb - twist, turn, connect the power cable. Fogs need to have the wheel well liner moved for easy access to the fog lamps. Just 2 snap tabs have to be removed to get in. S1D LED kits is also a direct plug-n-play install. No error codes, no anti-flicker devices were needed. Daytime running lights are the low beams and they operate at full 12V. Install time - 1.5hrs

Low beam - D2S HID 35W 6000K
Installation notes:
D4S is directly swappable for D2S in terms of fitment but not functionality. When we used the D4S 35W 6000K bulbs they turned purple color and the car shut them off after about 30-45 seconds. We had to use D2 series HIDs for the lights to stay on. Likely this was due to the lower power draw of the more efficient D4 bulbs. The D2 bulbs are held in place with a wire clip. Both headlights can be accessed through the engine compartment. On the passenger side the radiator overflow has to be moved out of the way before you can get to the low beam. On the driver's side, an electrical box has to be moved out of the way to gain access to the back of the low beams. When installing the HID bulbs, the return wire has to be at the bottom. DIY time about 30 minutes.
Fogs - the cowling around the front of the fogs is held in place by one philips screw at the top corner nearest the grille. Once removed the housing is exposed and it is held in place by 3 philips screws. Once removed from the car, the new LED kit could be easily installed. DYI time about 15 minutes.

Low/High beam - 9007 V10P 6V DRL compatible LED series was the perfect fit because of the LED power cable leading out the center of the back of the LED bulb. Due to the retaining ring being very long, it was impossible to install any other LED kit with a power cable vertically down from the bottom of the LED bulb without modifying the OE retaining ring.

Fogs - H11 V12X 8000lm LED kit. Non-adjustable LED diodes but they aligned perfectly in the fogs without needing any adjustment. Installation Notes: The dust caps are a bit tricky at first because they are different from other Dodge vehicles. They are rubber but with a plastic ring that turns clockwise to unlock. There is virtually no room under the dust caps for any LED kit with a large fan, that is why the 9005 Q3 Series was the best fit. The small LED driver easily fits inside the headlight. Accessing the headlight bulbs is done through the wheel wells, so there is no need to remove any engine covers to get to the headlights. When connecting the headlight wires you have a 50-50 chance of guessing the polarity since Dodge used black wires for both + and - The fogs are accessed from under the front of the SUV and the installation takes only a few minutes. DIY install time: 30 minutes.

The back of the headlights can be accessed through the wheel wells. The frame is in the way, which makes it challenging to install the bulbs with the headlights in place, but not impossible. For that reason, we chose to install the U9 Series LEDs. The passenger side required more work than the drivers' side because of extra plastic trim on that side. DIY time - 1 hr.

DIY time - 2hrs but only because the low beam H11 halogen bulbs would not come out. In this particular vehicle, we had to use a panel puller to loosen them up from the headlight. The same procedure will apply for 2019-2021 Jeep grand Cherokees.

The low beams are the WORST to install out of any vehicle we've worked on. There is no room to reach into the headlight from either the top or the bottom. The worst part is the halogens are so tight that you need to break the seal by prying on the bulb. The fogs are easy to replace simply by reaching in from the bottom of the SUV. Anti-flicker decoders were not needed.

The large grille has to be removed to get to the headlight bolts. With the 3 headlight bolts removed, the headlight assembly tilts forward giving you access to the back of the headlight. Installation is simple - remove the H13 halogen bulb, install the new H13 X9S LED bulb, connect the H13 headlight power connector, and re-assemble. Anti-flicker decoders are NOT needed. Daytime running lights work at reduced power, same as before the upgrade.
Fogs are super simple to install. Just reach under the bumper, disconnect the power cable, remove the halogen bulb, connect the LED bulb to the power cable, and install the new LED in the fog lamp.

An orange o-ring was used to replace the blue H11 o-ring so the connectors on the led bulb lined up better with the OEM headlight power connector attached to the back of the headlight. These o-rings are supplied automatically with the H11B kit.

INSTALLATION NOTES:
To gain access to the headlights, two bolts in each wheel well must be removed and the lining moved to the side. The lining is not too rigid so it's an easy job. There are hard plastic dust caps on the back of the headlights. Turn them CCW to remove them. The 9012 LED bulb installs easily. There is ample room for the LED decoder and the bulb's 3.0cm long fan under the dust caps.

Easy access to the driver's side bulb. Passenger side need to have the air box removed. Little trick to removing the bulbs from the housing: turn the bulbs 90 degrees counterclockwise for easy removal of the HID bulbs with power wires attached. There is a two sided locking tab at the front of the bulb which needs to be turned counterclockwise before the HID bulb can be removed. Reverse the steps on installation of the LEDs.

2012 SUBARU OUTBACK - H7 LED LOW BEAM UPGRADE
This could have been an easy install but Subaru did not make it easy to get to the back of the headlights. So, you gotta go in through the wheel wells, and then fight your way through a bunch of hoses and cables on the driver's side before you can finally reach the back of the headlight housing to undo the cover. Luckily the H7 halogen bulb is held in the headlight with just the standard wire clip not some proprietary H7 adapter. Once the bulb was removed, the LED bulb collar had to be installed in the headlight, and then the LED bulb installed in it. Not too bad given the lack of space and cable length on the headlight power connector. The passenger side was a bit easier to do, but both sides were not easy for re-installing the dust caps.

Installation Notes:
We decided to skip the high beam upgrade because the opening in the headlight is so small that a hand does not fit in. The driver's side could be done with needle nose pliers, but the passenger side required that the whole headlight is removed for the upgrade. Simply not worth the time given the light output of the low beams.
Low beams can be installed through the wheel wells, although the driver's side can be done through the engine compartment with some patience.
Installation Difficulty: 4/5 HORRIBLE

LED bulbs fit directly under the dust cap without any modification. You have about 3.5cm of free space to fit an LED bulb's fan into.
HIGH BEAM - 9005 X9S 110W 20000lm + 9005 DECODERS
LED bulb easily fit in the space provided. There are no dust caps to deal with. 9005 anti-flicker decoders were needed to take away the slight light pulsation in DRL mode. DRL voltage is 6V. I don't know why, but the 9005 X9S worked perfectly in DRL (6V) even though their minimum voltage is 8V.
Installation notes:
Super easy install through the engine compartment. No parts had to be moved or removed to get to both the high and the low beams. Both kits are plug-n-play. Everything worked as usual in DRL, low beam, and high beam, with the headlight switch in AUTO or ON. DIY - 20 min.

2015 Ford Expedition LED headlight and Fog Light Upgrade - applies to 2015-2017 Expeditions with reflector headlights
LOW BEAM - H11 F3S Pro 120W 26000lm HIGH BEAM - 9005 U9 100W 16000lm canbus + Installation Notes:
The headlights have to be removed to gain access to the back of them. To do so, remove two 10mm bolts on top of each headlight, and remove the headlight from the truck. The low beams have ample space for any led kit and any led bulb size, so the OEM rubber dust cap covers can be reinstalled easily. The high beams are offset, and only two led series fit the space - Q3 and U9. It is not possible to fit the OEM dust cap back on once the LED bulbs are installed because they are tight against the side of the headlight opening. Installing after-market rubber dust caps solves the problem. Use Z2 (K80) 80-83mm rubber dust caps to fit over the high beams. Don't forget to align the led bulbs - the power cable on the LED bulb's fan must point down to 6 o'clock. DIY - 30 minutes

Upper and lower trim around the headlight has to come off first. Then there are three 10mm bolts that have to be removed to remove the headlights from the vehicle. Both, low beams and high beams have a proprietary H7 adapters, so the only LED kits that fit are the 1:1 fanless LED bulbs. To install the low beam H7 bulb, you MUST put it in the headlight first, and then install the connector. The high beam is the opposite - you must install the bulb in the adapter first and then put it in the headlight. Installation time: 30 minutes.

Standard RAM install. The grille does not have to come off, it can be tilted forward, so you can get to the bottom headlight bolts. Top headlight bolt has to be removed and the headlight unlocked through the wheel well. The Q3 and U9 LED series are the only ones that wil fit under the dust cap in the LOW beam position. Only the Q3 fits in the HIGH beam position. Both low and high beam LEDs must be aligned so they reflect properly in the projector and reflector housing. The fogs are easy - just reach under the bumper, remove and replace bulbs. Time 1.5hrs
Update: Low and High beams were not flickering after the install even with the engine running. However, customer reported slight flickering after a 40 minute drive home. Anti-flicker decoders might be needed. We'll update this info after we test the decoders.

1992 Lexus SC400 LED headlight upgrade.
Low beam - 9006 F3S Pro 120W 26000lm LED kit. Can be replaced simply by reaching behind the headlights.
High beam - 9005 V10 6V DRL 9600lm LED kit. Must be adjustable LED bulbs because the halogen bulbs sit on a 45 degree angle in the headlights. Can be replaced simply by reaching behind the headlights.
Marker lights - LED T10-6 25mm canbus white. Air box and the battery must be removed in order to get to the bulbs.

Weirdly, this RAM had no low beams with halogen bulbs installed. High beams / DRLs worked fine. Installing LEDs only yielded low beam light on the drivers side, but still no low beam light on the passenger side. Installing canbus decoders did not help. In the end we had to run a new low beam positive wire from the driver's side to the passenger side, and use canbus anti-flicker decoders for the low beam lights to stay on when the truck was running. Bulb alignment was required for the LED diodes to face left and right in the headlights.

2016 Subaru WRX - DRL/HIGH BEAM LED Upgrade.
The driver's side is as easy as reaching in and swapping the bulbs. The passenger side requires the air intake dam to be removed (20 seconds). DRL light output is lower than in the high beam, exactly how it should be. No flickering issues or dash bulb out warning lights.

2021 Dodge RAM 1500 Classic - Low Beam LED Headlight Upgrade
Just like the 2023, we've tried all out H11 LEDs, and the X10i were the only ones that stayed on in AUTO (DRL mode) when the truck was running. A slight light flutter was seen close up in DRL but not while the vehicle was approaching at any distance.

Ford Ranger - headlight re-wiring / repair job
Driver's side low beam was not working because the positive 9007 pin was corroded - we ended up replacing the whole connector; 3 DRL LEDs on passenger side did not match the DRL bulb color on the driver's side so we used new ones; headlight mounting pin was missing on the passenger side so the light was wobbling loose so a new one was made; most other connections were just taped, so we ended up soldering them; driver's side signal light also activated the 3 DRL leds and the light intensity was at 10% due to bad connections; and finally the driver's side red side marker light was flickering intermittently due to a bad connection - re-adjusting the bulb's wires fixed the issue.
